Electrical connectors

We will provide all the advice you need about the electrical connectors that are best for you. There are three types of sockets:

Dedicated electrics
Dedicated electrics

Single 7 pin socket

This is most common and cost effective. It will fulfil all normal towing requirements – lighting boards, cycle carriers, caravans, trailers, horse boxes etc.

Twin 7 pin socket

In addition to the functions of the single 7 pin, this also provides a permanent and switched power supply and reverse light function. It is used with leisure or secondary batteries, typically used for caravans. The permanent supply provides power when the engine is off and charges the second (caravan/leisure) battery when the engine is running. The switched supply powers the caravan electrics (eg fridge) when the engine is running.

Single 13 pin sockets

This provides the functionality of a twin socket but in a single connector. It is a sealed, secure connector and most caravans from 2009 will need this type of connector.
